Documenting the Movement: Pushing Social Change through Social Media

The power of social media is hard to dismiss. What once seemed like a trivial way to keep in touch with friends has become a force for social change, shining light on subjects previously dismissed, deepening conversation, and empowering global citizens to unite and demand change in a multitude of ways. Social media as a medium for connecting, organizing, and communicating is spreading nods to justice more powerfully than ever before.

Analyzing Power for Social Action

In the wake of 2016, the political landscape in Harrisburg - and at all levels of government - changed. In order to resist faithfully, we have to understand how power operates. Participants will leave this session with a better understanding of the leadership at the state level and how it affects our issues, particularly education. They will also leave with tools to analyze power in their local governments.

Participation in Airport Protests

In airports across the country thousands of people gathered this past weekend to express disapproval of the Executive Order banning entrance into the United States from seven different Muslim countries.

Representatives of the Philadelphia Interfaith Walk for Peace and Reconciliation were among the protestors at the Philadelphia International Airport.

The Peace Walk Steering Committee unanimously supported participation in the protest.
